HPU El Paso Dual Credit Scholarship
The Howard Payne University El Paso Center offers a scholarship of up to $4,000 for students who have completed at least six hours of dual credit courses at HPU.
The scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to students who have been admitted unconditionally to HPU and are enrolled in 12 or more credit hours at the university. Once awarded, recipients must enroll in consecutive long semesters to remain eligible. Recipients will be named during the fall semester and will receive the scholarship through the spring semester.
Dr. Adrian Gil, assistant vice president for HPU El Paso, said the scholarship will help dual credit students who are planning to attend HPU after completing high school.
“We always enjoy welcoming our dual credit students who choose to continue to attend HPU,” said Dr. Gil. “There are many benefits of continuing their education with HPU, and we hope that this scholarship encourages them to consider our university as they prepare to complete high school.”
Dual credit describes classes offered to high school students that will count as credit toward an undergraduate degree while fulfilling requirements for their high school coursework.
In 2021, HPU celebrated its 30th year of operation in El Paso. In addition to dual credit opportunities, the center offers undergraduate degrees in Christian studies, criminal justice and business administration. Graduate degrees offered include the Master of Business Administration, the Master of Education in Sport and Wellness Leadership, and the Master of Arts in Theology and Ministry.
